Vat-a-song!

I am supposed to be working on assignments now. But I couldn't help and had to do this. The song I am listening to right now is worth a post.

I am a big fan of old tamil hits. The song Naanamo from Ayiratthil Oruvan is a classic. Now Pallikkoodam has a song that has Naanamo tune and the lyrics go like this...

M - RoseMary, nee oru juice maari.....
F - Robert-u, potten bracket-u.....

Listen to that scintillating song here.

Kamal Saar rightly quotes in "Per sollum pillai" - "Thamizh ini mellachaagum".

Deepa,

It is used to be a cool thing during our college days (don't ask me the year, I know I am ancient :-) ), to sing the song in englisu. see two examples below.

1.
evening shower பொழிகிறது
ஒவ்வொரு dropபிலும்
உன் பேர் தெரிகிறது

2. commonஆக my heartஉ goldஉ

LOL.

மெல்லத் தமிழ் இனி சாகும் indeed.

"Thamiz inin mella chagum " -cannot be accepted. But Tamil can become an absorbing language like English. It means that new words gets added to Tamil from other languages.Inda songa eppadi pidichai.

lakeside sea breeze-u,
Is your direction southwest-u?

'potten bracket-u'
Atleast the lyricist can claim he was stressing correct application of BODMAS rule!

deepa,

this roseberry song from Pallikoodam itself is a sarcastical criticism on the thanglish trend of tamil films songs, i think.

Also in this era of thanglisized tamil films songs, we also happen to hear a real tamil good lyrics too like 'aththipoo' blossoms, thanks to Thamarai.

However, 'naanamOO..' is a beauty of yesteryears in TMS-PSuseela combination... gone are those days!

Thats funny premalatha. I had an "andha naal nyabagam" after reading your comment. We all did that, didn't we?
Lavu, I dont know the situation but for an ignorant soul, it does sound silly and hence the post.
MT, I expected that song to be listed somewhere in your FM.:-)
Sudhakar, true but tamil has been practised (for generations) very rigidly. Indha song a? raaga la ketten.
TTM, aren't you the half-full guy:-)
Rajesh, back now?
Oracle, enna solla vara?
Ajay, talk to oracle.
ilavarasan, enakku situation teriyadhu. How many people would actually see that movie to rate this song? tamizh vaazhndhal nalladhudhan namakku. Adhukku oru jei.
