Wise and old

A wise old bird lived on an oak.
The more he saw the less he spoke.
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

I read the above rhyme to my 18 month old almost everyday and when I read it y'day, for some strange reason, I was reminded of Ganguly. He sure does speak a lot less these days. Right? After his ouster from the team, I thought his days were over. I am sure the jury is still out on his performance on "neutral" grounds but this is a god starter. Welcome back Ganguly and Good Luck for the world Cup.

In Ganguly's case it is like this:

The media turned away from a wise old bird.
The less he is heard, the lesser he speaks.
The lesser he speaks, the more he observes.
The more he observes, so his scores.
Welcome back DADA,
Bring home the cup.

Words and runs is Dada of old. Now that he is old (your words) just runs would do fine! :)

Saurav is immensely talented. Its just that he went through a bad phase. Also his attitude needed a makeover. Now that he has been grounded, I think he should start focussing on RUNS and not on his post-match speech.

Ganguli has a point to prove and hence now he is at his best. I am still not very sure whether he would be able to negotiate sharp rising balls or the swinging away ones on his off stump. He can butcher slow turners.

In one way, I am glad abt Dada's come back.. it always does good to one's morale to see someone raise up after he is thoroughly stamped. Comebacks are always inspirational, no matter who it is.

Reached here from one of the comment you left on Me's blog long ago.

I meant his Man-of-the-Match/Man-of-the-Series speeches. He should not go there and vouch "India will def win this world cup". It would be better if he says "We gonna try hard" :)

Is it fair to read this poem to your son who mustn't have even started talking?

This Ganguly issue has been talked about too much. Here is my say:

Everybody is try to see if deserves captaincy now, because he is scoring well as a new underdog. Arent we all being emotionally attached to this Saurav character here? Our personal liking for this Saurav is compromising our decisions.

Look at his batting performance, just before was fired from captaincy. He was inconsistent, never came up with the always required "captain's knock". If a batsman is not even fit to be in the team, he is definitely not fit to be a captain. There was also a tiff with the coach and he threw him out. He is not the president you see, he does not enjoy immunity.

Now that he is back, he shows promise to be a player in ODI. But is this performance enough to be the captain? I believe Dravid makes a good captain, because he unites the team, and does not involve himself in lobbying, dirty partisan tactics like Ganguly.

Dravid will not lose his captaincy unless he is stupid enough to act like Ganguly. Dravid is here to stay.
