DhanAish

Last weekend was really nice. Visited some favourite relatives and because they have Sun Tv connection at home, we decided to stay up late and watch the Dhanush interview. I am so glad we did that.

The guy who interviewed Dhanush was Ananda kannan. You just have to listen to him for a few seconds and you'd know he is from Singapore. "Engaendhu azhaikkareenga?" is as agmark Singapore as it gets. Thats what he asked whenever someone called. Ananda Kannan, we chennai-ites make fun of everything even when we know we are not perfect. Azhaikkareenga means inviting, pesareenga means talking and koopdareenga means calling. You can ask someone where they are calling or talking from and when you asked where they are inviting from, we chennai-ites (and non-chennai-ites) couldn't help but laugh. As funny as it sounded, your "azhaikkareenga" and Dhanush's "gum-nu irunga" went together really well. Thats how we talk. But Ananda Kanna, you did do a good job 'la', especially while tackling some of the callers.

I've seen only one movie of Dhanush - Kadhal Konden. I think he did a pretty good job and ever since Dhanush has been one actor I like. He can dance (Manmada raasa) and he can act, 2 good ingredients. A lot of people talk about his looks (read bad looks). And once he married Aishwarya, there were even more talks and discussions. Poor guy. Its so easy to be a Rajini suck-up, ask Vijay. Once you become his son-in-law, you have the license to do that but Dhanush handled questions related to Rajini very maturely. When asked whether he would act with Rajini, he said there wouldn't be any visibility for others in a Rajini movie. I was impressed. A lot of callers asked questions on whether he was introverted, whether his wife would act with him, why he was so skinny etc. Ananda Kannan was losing his patience but Dhanush seemed unperturbed. It was like he expected all those questions.

When one caller asked why he got maried so early, he said "I've always wanted to get married soon. And immediately...(kalyanam pannittu tuck-nu...)", I am still wondering how he wanted to finish that sentence. He didn't complete it. His new movie Thiruvilayadal was discussed. One caller asked what the difference was between this Thiruvilayadal and the old one. If a person thinks, this movie is another "saami-padam" (in the true sense) like the old one, he or she needs some help. And I was most impressed with Dhanush for handling this lady, who was too excited to ask any proper question and ended up asking "Neenga unga wife kooda epdi pazhaaguveenga?"(How do you move with your wife?) Dhanush said "Husband maari pazhuguven". He has a good sense of humour too. I definitely like him now. I hope his latest movie becomes a hit.

i've wathed dhanush speaking on some interviews. he for sure knows what he is talking. he is brought up from a low middle class family and that makes him not float too much. hope he succeeds and brands him with more good projects

Somehow the title made me wonder if this post was about new year predictions!!

Danush always make me feel 'poor lad'!! From your post he seems to be like the simple, straight forward, andha kaalathu Prabu Deva!

Dhanush indeed seems to be a simple guy with no airs about himself like his father-in-law. But I dont know how you tolerated Ananda Kannan...He used to be a Sun Music Vj(dont know whether he is still one)

I appreciate his honest answer on visibility but Superstar atleast gives others leverage most of the time its just that our eyes get glued to him on screen. I remember his speech at Chandramukhi Celebrations when he said that "This movie's main cast is Jothika, its an out and out her movie".

I doubt whether that Vijay (he and his sober looks! Yuck!)or Simbu would give credits like that.

Probably we should advise Simbu/Vijay..."Thalaivarada istyle mattum copy adichaa podhadhu, avara maadhiri humbleaavum irukkanum"

What say you?

I was watching Dhanush's interview on Sun, with a close friend of his family (post marriage). She just said, "how deceptive all these interviews are". We then spoke about the steriotypical interiews of big stars in Kollywood who always preyend to be nice, introverts and shy while they actually are not. Bollywood interviews are far better. There is a sense of honesty in the air.

Kittu, are you sure about his lower middles class background. he is Director KasturiRangan's son. (Remember ottha rooba song and khushboo?)
Thanks you TTM, if you insist.;-)
MT, Prabhu Deva?! WHY?
AP, our interests converge when it comes to Madhavan but I am 100% unadulterated Kamal Saar fan.:-)
Ginks, cricket patthi ezhudhara mood illa. Even the test win didnt excite me after the pathetic one day series.
Inder, I am not sure. I was watching Ananda Kanan's sow for the first time. Does Sun TV have imported VJs these days?
One Among you, welcome. yeah, it was funny.
Rajesh, are you talking about the stars in Koffee with K?
Harish, whats not bad? The show?

Well first time I am seeing someone praising Dhanush :)
Personally I dont have a big opinion about him. I think have seen 3-4 movies of his. Rest all I didnt want to watch after seeing the trailer.
Thiruvilayadal was one of his decent pics. Its got good amount of comedy. If he chooses some decent pics it will be good.

Wish you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!! :)

Hi there, I just happened to chance upon this post. And yes, AK is from Singapore. Infact he used to be a major player on the tellie here before settling in Chennai. And yes, we in Singapore do speak a slightly different variety of Tamil. We use quite a few words which fit perfectly well in Tamil sentences but are actually of Malay/Hokkien origin. Nevertheless, I got to acknowledge that I'm always fascinated with the way people in Chennai speak Tamil. The different accents and slangs people use along with the fact that everybody around u is Indian but very different from each other. It is intriguing and I would love to spend some time in yr city.

Vanakkam,

I was glad to see some positive comments about AK(anadha kannan). Sun Tv does not IMPORT VJs from any place. It is every man's hardwork to get there. I dunno y some ppl jus cant appreciate such effort? Is it that difficult ? At least dun condemn. Cos i think it's easier to talk from yr seat than in front of the camera.

And .. in pure tamil.. it's not told that tholaipesiyil azhaikiren. I am a Tamil Lang teacher and i dont think ther's anything wrong with it.

Anon, I am flattered but seriously did this sentence "But Ananda Kanna, you did do a good job 'la', especially while tackling some of the callers." really make you think I was insulting AK? That seems like a compliment to most people, including me.
