Sachin Sachin

Anybody that knows me decently knows I am a crazy Sacin fan. I have refrained from talking cricket for the fear of hearing "You still support Sachin? He is pathetic. He should retire". I have been waiting for that one elusive knock that would save him and me (or all such crazy fans) When this current series started, he scored 35 in the first match. Even 'Gone'guly hit 98. When I spotted an eyelash on my nose, like a teenager, I placed it on my knuckles and wished for a century or at least a half century or at least a match-saving 20 in the next match and blew it. And he scored 0. Zero, Zero!! How much it hurt!!

The next match is tomorrow and I can't believe I am tensed. There is no method or reason behind this madness. I have to admit. As usual, I am just hoping he'd score big. Good Luck Sachin.

whoever says that it's a lil harsh....
prob what they dont understand is THAT body has carried on for 18 yrs now..at the highest level in today's competitive stage...
of course i pray for his 'revival' but then i have seen many of his great knocks..and i am always grateful to that....

I pulled the stats for 2006 ODIs and this is what they say:

Player Runs,Avg,Inn
Yuvi 849,53,21 - 2H,5F
ST 628,45,16 - 2H,3F
Dhoni 821,41,26 - 0H,7F
RD 919,35,27 - 1H,8F
Raina 500,28,22 - 0H,3F
Sehwag 608,26,23 - 0H,5F
Kaif 322,19,20 - 0H,3F

As far as ODIs go, there's little doubt that ST is easily India's best bat at the moment - if you leave out the injury-prone Yuvi, on avg he's ahead of RD by a clear 10 runs and Sehwag by 20! No need to go into 50s/100s.

It's not been a great year for all Indian bats whether Tests or ODIs. Yes ST had a poor season in tests but came good in SA, it's not like we're chockful of potential replacements - the Kaifs and Rainas are not even half of ST, whether on stats or otherwise.

We didnt play much on home soil last yr and hence the lack of 100s - whenever ST played at home in 2005 and scored big, people started saying he's back to the 1998 days.

Anantha, we lost again and the blame-game must've already started.
Oracle, thats funny.LOL:-)
Syam, I hate Vadivelu with a passion. How about you?
Agree with you on the "grateful" part Ajay.
TTM, thanks for the stat. Thats exactly my point. The whole team is bad now. Blaming Sachin is the easiest thing to do.
Ramya, correct. West Indies kitta ipdi adi vaanganuma namma adhuvum Chennai la?

TTM/Deepa, when's the last time - or first time - Tendulkar hooked a classical bouncer from a genuine fast bowler (Not Chaminda Vaas)?
