K Suryanarayana
The killing of this engineer by the Taliban is brutal. The family is udnerstandably inconsolable but there goes the rediff media, takes a picture of his wailing wife and publishes it as "First Look". You are supposed to feel great that you actually got a glimpse of the crying family. We need the news about his killing alright but do media men need to go to his house, take a picture and post it on the net? I find this disgusting. The picture of his wife and the wailing daughter would probably make you skip a meal. My heart goes for the family, who not only have to bear with the loss of life of their beloved but have to put up with the our immature media also. God help this family through this phase.
Update: This blogger talks about this too, in a better way. (Thanks for the link Bubby)

Deepz,
inga vandu NDTV, IBN,Times now inda madiri comedy channels ellam paakkanum. Terrible is the word! They have all these bacchha reporters who jump around shouting from the venue "Suryanarayana's family is very upset. All three children are crying. Family is blah blah".. ofcourse we know that they are all upset. Leave them alone guys!
I watched this news on 'Headlines Today' last night and felt the same way. The wail of the family is the background score for the news. DISGUSTING in deed. Time and again, these media morons go beyond what is actually required.
If there is anything worse than CBS news, it's gotta be NDTV.
Breaking news on ZEE news yesterday "Aakhir vaaris kaun? ". "A lady claims to be the second wife of Suryanarayana. Is her son/daughter the real vaaris?"
Naatukku enna mukkiyamaana tagaval paaru.Leave naal-la TV on panna indha gadidaan

Indian Media is shameless. The media did the same when Mr Kutty was killed in 2005 by the same Afghan lot. TimesofIndia(the baap of all media crap)published photos of Mr Kutty's wife sobbing, fainting etc with captions like
"Mr Kutty's wife sobbing", "Mr Kutty's wife on the verge of fainting" blah blah
Well, as "I" says, NDTV is even more pathetic. If you remember sometime back the bloody NDTV showed a live telecast of a man drowning himself in a well. Darn the media!!!
yup...
to think the govt showed so much apathy as well..
Let afghanistan be doomed...why do I care if that country is rebuilt or not..
Government cannot be responsible for citizens taking up jobs in foreign lands through foreign companies. I feel that the risk was always there when Surya opted for the job. He has also violated the security drill. While I sympathise, I am not sure if govt shd take the blame .
But the media is out of control; I agree
Height of stupidity = Sonia Singh on NDTV [News presenter]
"Suryanarayana's wife consumed poison yesterday, she is criticial. IF SHE DIES the 3 children will not have anyone to take care of them..."
Sonia Singh, how would you like it if someone were to say "Sonia, if you die tomorrow, you wont be able to present the news on the channel"
when someone takes up a job in Afghanistan or iraq, the person is fully aware of the risks and he is paid that 'big' extra exactly for that risk factor. If that person takes the risk to unknown limits by going out without escort, then he is foolish and he is only to be blamed and its unfair to blame the government.
