When jill becomes chill

Karunanidhi came up with this brilliant idea of giving tax-break to movies that have "thamizh" names. We have come to a point where tax benefits need to be given to make tamil directors name their tamil movies in tamil. Our CM must be one heart-broken person. If he decides to give tax benefits to people who give tamil names to their kids, our dear CM won't qualify. And even his father wouldn't qualify.

I'll leave him alone. I am sure he has good intentions. But the producers of the movie Jillendru oru kadhal changed the name of their movie to Chill nu oru kadhal to avail the tax benefits. But whoever told them chill is tamil? I am reminded of a drama by S.Ve.Sekhar where a politician refuses to say "satthiyamaaga" because its not a tamil word. He claims its a "vada mozhi chol". When asked how he'd say that in tamil, he goes "Promise aaga..". S.Ve is clairvoyant. Guess he knew this was coming.

Tamil is the only language whose spoken form is entirely different from its pure form. Sure, every language has slangs and words that are not "pure" but not every word would be different. Someone (a non-tamil) who learns tamil from some University wouldn't understand a word if you speak to him like you speak everyday. The tamilians born in the last 100 years are the ones to be blamed, I would think. There is no going back from here. Thats why you see jill get tamil-ised to chill.

The Great Poet Bharathi would've sung "Nenju porukkudhillaye..." in this context.

Now, it is not Chill-unnu oru kaadhal .. it is Sillu-nnu oru kaadhal

Deepz, audio kettiya? eppadi irukku? naa innum vaangala.

.. And you are right.. JILL tamizh-a? for them to change it to SILL and replace Ja with Sa for tax benefits.

Like this paguttarivalar/ periyar tondan / periyar adimai /anti-brahmnan GNANI had written in Ananda vigadan, a family movie like Imsai arasan 23rd Pulikesi will not get the tax benefits coz of the word IMSAI which is vada-mozhi but kadi films like 'Uyir' / 'Pudhupettai' would enjoy the tax benefits thanks to tameel moli peyars.

Our CM Mr.Kind funds [adudaan karunaa nidhi] should think.

En peru pure tamizh mozhi.. naa tax exemption vaangikka mudyumannu kekkaporean.. Deepz, nee vadamozhi-p-peyar kaari.. so unaku no salugai

Muthu and Azhagiri are Tamil names. So CM gets 2 credits. That, if he pays tax.
Auto - moonu chakkara vandi
Bus - naalu chakkara vandi
Computer - kani pori
motor , engine , laptop idhukellam enna nnu enakku theriyadhu.
So thanglish avoid panna mudiyadhu.

I have to disagree, Sillendru is a tamil word FYI...
Its not chillendru, but sillendru...

"Sillendru poothaa siru nedinji kaatinile" from Senthamizh then mozhiyal??

That apart, this innovation is foolishness.
and Something Something Unakum Enakum has been changed to just "Unakum Enakum", I dont know what that means though...

How many languages you know to make this kind of comment? Obviously your knowledge about languages is very limited. There are many languages where spoken and written form are different. Please read or talk to people from othere languages before exposing your "knowledge."

Also ead my post about Salon is not an English word

Syam, that drama is Kadhula Poo. Try listening to that. Its funny.
True Casement. Thats what even I thought.
I, my 2nd language was tamil and I can pronounce every word in tamil correctly and I don't use the words keera or bejaar and how can you, of all people, call me tamil drogi? And what drogam do you see here. Nee sonna naan drogi aayiduvena?
Bybby, I liked the songs. Charan song avvalava pidkkala.
Rajesh, you forgot Kanimozhi.
Thank you RaajK.
Prabhu, sill nu vaartthai irukku. But its meaning is not jill.Unless they replaced the word "jill" and also changed the entire meaning....
Ajay, pasumpal was too funny. Which drama is that?
Ashok, en post ah illa indha concept ah? Renduma?;-)
Anon, neerdhano adhu? First of all, in that post, I had written, "The word Salon does't even exist in his dictionary." Obviously, you didn't understand what I wrote. The inclusion of the word "his" before the word "dictionary" means the word exists but he doesn't know that it does. If you still don't get it, read the post again or make someone else read the post and interpret it to you.
About this post, I should have added "probably the only language". Since I didn't, I have to agree to what you say. I have a very limited knowledge. Your comment would've been more credible if you had given examples instead of just sounding rude and angry. Or maybe your intention was to trash whatever has been posted.
Vijay Shankar, first time here? Welcome.:-)
Me, I think chill kaatru is "kulir kaatru" in tamil. Or lets hope someone comes up with the right word in the comments.
Adengappa, I always post about "sappa" or "silly" matters. Not the first time.;-)
Ghost, I'll make that correction in the post (hopefully soon). Si and Chi are spelt the same way in Tamil. Adhaan confusion.

First timer here via Thennavan.

I disagree with the transition from J to S. They should then say "Sothika nadikkum Sillunu Oru Kadhal" ... sari dhaane?

Welcome here rubic_cube. Sothika is funny. In the silver jubilee celebrations (I think) of Chandramukhi, prabhu and the gang, repeated called her Jodhiga.

ha ha ha :)) that's funny. Jill replaced with Chill !

Crazy, seriously, Tamizh edhai noki selgiradhu endru puriya villai.

There are so many many words, like that which even Tamilians will find it difficult to replace.

Some examples, that came to my mind.
->Assault(kashtamea illamaa) a vandhu thookitu poiyutaan!
->Seri matter(vishayam / prachanai) enna sollu.
->Oru auto (?) pudichi pona pochu
endha bus (perundhu) pogum ?
-> Enna juice(pazha chaaru) nalla irukum?

And the list goes on...
