I think people like me will support Sachin even if he scores 10 ducks in a row. He got 91 in the last test and now 82. Statistics would suggest that he sored big in back-to-back matches. But one should have seen that innings. The only thing worse than watching that 82 innings would have to be watching "Vayalum Vaazhvum" on DD1. Sachin remind yourself "I am Sachin Tendulkar, India's greatest batsman" and do justice to that title.
Saw "The 82" and thought it was a post on my vayasu :)..
ReplyDelete'mudumayilum ilamai' anda madiri edavadu ezhudirpiyonnu nenachen.dissapointed :( marupadiyum sachin-a?
The irony is that when he was scoring centuries, we had many defeats- the Chennai one against Pak comes to mind. Now, however unattractive his play is, we seem to be winning. For me, that's enough. We got a chance at history now. And our elderly statesman-everyone of them-have made sure this will be a unforgettable last trip. Anglophile that I am, I was soured by the English press after the First Test. The next thing on our agenda should be to cross our Final Frontier come December.
ReplyDeleteEnd justify the means!
ReplyDeleteSachin's knock against the pakis at Chennai was phenomenal but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth everytime I think of it.
The 92 balls that Dravid faced must be even worse. But was Sachin's innings that bad. I didn't watch. Hope Kumble runs through the English team tomorrow. Missing Harbajan.
ReplyDeleteEnna kodumai-nga idhu. Oru kalathula adi adi nu adichindrundha podhu, avan avan vaai-kku vandha badi thittindu irundhaan. And India was also losing during that stage. Now India is winning, he is contributing to the victories and nee avana thittara! Enna kodumai idhu!
ReplyDeleteAda, indha blog-la kooda Sachin-a pathi ipdi karutthu solraangalaa? Hmm, manidhan (or manishi, in this case) maarivittaan ;-)
ReplyDeleteDeepa, when I was playing the ball wasn't coming on to the bat nicely. But you must have noticed that I took only 22 balls to move from 60 to 82. Don't expect me to play a TEST innings like Dhoni's 183 not out against SL.
ReplyDeleteB, will do that if you insist.;-)
ReplyDeleteAjay, we were lucky that the first test was drawn. And England is lucky that they are playing India and hence this test was drawn too.
Oracle, The End is a few disappointed worshippers (who wathed the match live)
Rajezsh, Dravid's was the worst. Sachin must've promised someone that he'd touch the ball only if its meant to be hit over the fence. And its SACHIN and thats what upset me.
Anantha, I said I'd support him no matter what but that doesn't make that innings a good one to watch.
TPI, enna pannardhu Dhukkam thaangala.
ST, "ball wasnt coming onto the bat" is an excuse an avg. or above avg. player could give. NOT YOU. A couple hours later, Kumble scored century on that pitch. I cant believe you and Dhoni can even be talked about in the same breath.
If u remember, yours truly said right after WC 2007 that SRT is at the right stage to retire and perhaps give people like Yuvraj a chance to get into the team.

Lucky or not, either side, we were better in two of three Tests. After the first match, the English press made much about Eng being so unlucky and their young pace attack shaming our batsmen. One writer even went ahead and said their bowlers were gonna blow away India and such. Probably the main reason India won the series was because RSD was lucky with the toss!!
ReplyDeleteA 5-Test series would have been interesting.
Deepa, a true fan of mine with a good understanding of the game will never complain about my innings. I appreciate Jumbo's innings, but when he was playing the pitch was dead flat with very little movement off the pitch. Even a worst batsman like Matt Prior and Ryan Sidebottom were able to negotiate close to 15 overs on the final session of the 5th day. Only the 1st 4 sessions weren't conducive for free stroking. Anyway, I am just trying to educate you about the nature of the pitch. Please keep supporting me and expect some big innings from me in the upcoming 7 match ODI series. We will definitely rock......
ReplyDeleteSachin has slowed down considerably. His reflexes are no longer spontaneous. He doesn't dominate the bowlers. He allows bouncers to hit him on his helmet and looked visibly shaken.A Gordon Grenich, a Roy Frederick or our own Mohinder Amarnath would have hooked them for a six.
ReplyDeleteHis Chennai innings would have made Don Bradman proud. Unfortunately it is a memory now and we can't expect similar innings from him.
SRT, you're trying to educate me? Ellam neram. Now that I know who you are, I can confidently say that you like cricket because of me. You should be grateful to me forever. My next post is on you, silly.
ReplyDeleteMahadevan Sir, I'd like to say "Nalla velai, idhellam paakka Bradman uyiroda illa".
sachin rocks!!! even in his new found lethargy...
ReplyDeleteappo adhu nejamavey SRT illaya?
ReplyDeleteme too.. sachin biased.. and now he can be captain too.
ReplyDeleteSachin should be made the Indian captain, and India should win without him scoring big, or maybe scoring a tedious 90. I'm sure there will still be people who will admire "the way he handled the team and led from the front", when all he would have done was hobbled from 85 to 90 in a mere 40 balls.
ReplyDeleteSome fanboys (or fangirls) are incorrigible.
